The Routh First-Generation Center manages the Regents' Scholars Program, the 3rd largest scholarship program at Texas A&M University. In alignment with the Scholarships and Financial Aid Office, first-generation is classified as neither parent have earned a bachelor's degree. Parents may have earned an associate's degree, have taken college courses, or be in the process of taking college courses. However, we understand that this definition may not fully account for the rich diversity of a first-generation college student (e.g., parent(s) may have completed a degree non-traditionally later in life or obtained a degree internationally) and we welcome first-generation students who believe will benefit from our program and services. A first-generation Aggie is a student whose parent(s) or legal guardian(s) did not attend Texas A&M University. Their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) have completed an undergraduate degree, but not at Texas A&M University. 

Yes, a first-generation student is a first-gen Aggie, However a first-gen Aggie is not always a first-generation student. 

Hotard Hall is located on Asbury Street (the same street that the "Welcome to Aggieland" water tower is located). It is between the North Gate Post Office Building and Neeley Hall. Refer to Aggie Maps if specific directions are needed! 

When you arrive at Hotard Hall, be sure to check in at the front desk on the first floor or at the kiosk using your Universal Identification Number (UIN).

Yes, you can bring a friend to the Routh First-Generation Center.  

No reservations needed. The rooms are available for all to use.

Emailing from your Texas A&M University email account (@tamu) is the most effective and secure way to communicate and document your questions. Your name, UIN, and question should be in the email.
