Early Alert System
Highlights of the Early Alert System:- A three-tier system designed for instructors to identify students who would benefit from extra support during predetermined periods in the semester.
- Utilized in EDGE grant courses that underwent course redesign efforts.
- Addresses both academic (e.g., poor grades on exams, attendance, study habits, etc.) and nonacademic (e.g., financial aid, billing, campus engagement, etc.) concerns.
- Yielded favorable results for decreasing D & F grades along with Q-drops.
- Course redesign enhancements: alignment of the learning outcomes, assessments and teaching methods, as well as, analysis of the broader impact of the course within the overall curriculum.
- Increased student persistence and ultimately retention and graduation rates.
- Improved collaboration and communication among campus stakeholders.
