Academic Advising

An academic advisor is a partner in a student's academic journey as they move through and graduate from Texas A&M University. An academic advisor is a reliable source of information about majors, one who can help students explore their interests, consider alternative majors, select courses, develop a degree plan, and meet degree requirements. Academic advisors can connect students with academic and personal support programs, co-curricular opportunities, and career options.

Virtual Advising Appointments

All virtual advising sessions with the OSS Advising Team will be conducted via Zoom. Students will be provided with a Zoom link in their appointment confirmation email from Navigate. This link will give them access to their virtual appointment.

In-Person Advising Appointments

Students should check in with the student assistant at the front desk located on the 1st floor of Hotard Hall.

To ensure adequate safety for in person advising:
  • Students should enter Hotard Hall using the Houston St. entrance and exit the building on Asbury St.
  • All in person advising sessions will be scheduled to meet in Hotard Hall room 111 (conference room). The room allows for enough space to maximize safety with plexiglass panels and seating to facilitate physical distancing.
  • The meeting space will be cleaned between each advising appointment. The front desk and lobby spaces will be cleaned after any person utilizes that space.
  • The lobby space will only be available to students who are waiting for an upcoming advising session. There will be a limit of students allowed in the waiting area based on physical distance guidelines. Physically distanced seats will be indicated.
