Howdy Class of 2030!
We are so excited to welcome you to Aggieland! Beginning at Texas A&M University alongside 12,000 classmates can be intimidating, but your Hullabaloo U section will help start your Aggie journey with support and community. The 50 minutes you spend with your Hullabaloo U community each week will help you process this transition and give you the tools you need to succeed at Texas A&M!
Find your Community
During your New Student Conference, you will learn which Hullabaloo U sections are available to you. Some examples of Hullabaloo U sections include learning communities (including but not limited to Regents' Scholars, POSSE, Century Scholars, etc.), success programs, or courses provided by your college/major, or SOMS 111 if you are in the Corps of Cadets. Many students will have the opportunity to select a Hullabaloo U Community from a robust list of interdisciplinary offerings.
Class of 2030
It is an expectation that all first-year students participate in a Hullabaloo U course during their first semester.
Only first-time-in-college students (freshmen) are able to participate in Hullabaloo U. Transfer students are encouraged to check out the Transfer Student Program offered by the Office for Student Success.
Yes! Please talk with your academic advisor on which Hullabaloo U course is best for you.
Hullabaloo U will cover a variety of topics that will ease the transition into college. Students can expect to hear about academic success strategies and resources, wellness, Aggie traditions and core values, and many other topic areas such as time management, goal-setting, and careers. The overall purpose of the class is to help students to build community among their classmates and make Aggieland feel like home.
Each Hullabaloo U section is capped at approximately 25 students, likely making it one of the smallest classes during a student's first semester. Your class will be taught by a faculty or staff member from across campus that is invested in your success as a first-year student. Paired with each instructor is at least one upperclassmen peer mentor who will act as a guide and resource during your first semester.
