The Century Scholars Program (CSP) is a four-year learning community that supports students from selected Texas high schools through an academic scholarship. Through a freshman seminar, community service, and other professional development opportunities, Century Scholars are prepared for the rigors of the academic and professional arenas.

The Century Scholars Program offers:

  • $20,000 scholarship over four years
  • $1,000 Study Abroad stipend
  • Freshman seminar course
  • Opportunity to fulfill program requirements by joining the Century Scholars Organization (CSO)
  • Hands-on contact with program advisors
  • Professional training in public speaking, interviewing, and presenting
  • Mentorship experiences with upperclassmen, faculty, and staff
  • Opportunity to serve as a Century Scholars Ambassador (training required)

Scholarship and stipend forms

Requirements

Century Scholars must meet two types of program requirements each year:

  1. Academic requirements
  2. Participation requirements
Academic requirements are tracked by the office of Scholarships & Financial Aid. All Century Scholars must:
  • Have and maintain at least a 2.75 GPR
  • Meet the 30-60-90 rule
  • Be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours each semester
  • Email scholarships@tamu.edu with questions regarding CSP academic requirements
Any student who falls below a cumulative 2.25 GPR will be required to meet monthly with a Century Scholars Staff Advisor.

Participation requirements are tracked by Century Scholars Program Staff through the LAUNCH office. These requirements vary by classification (i.e., Freshmen, Sophomore, etc.).

Mentors

Century Scholars Mentors positively impact the lives of freshman in the Century Scholars Program (CSP) through the facilitation of classroom activities and discussion, small and large groups meetings, and provide support in academic and social settings throughout the year.

To apply to become a Century Scholars Mentor, students must:

  • Have and maintain a at least a 2.5 GPR at time of application and at end of spring semester (preference given to those with higher GPRs)
  • Be able to fit a UGST 181 course section in their schedule
  • Be able to complete at least one year of service
  • Desire to facilitate classroom activities and discussions
  • Desire to gain presentation skills and individual mentoring skills
  • Desire to impact students, give back to the Century Scholars program, and go above and beyond to make a difference!

Century Scholars Mentors spend about 18-20 hours per month on Century Scholars-related tasks. These tasks include (but are not limited to):

  • Mentor team meetings
  • UGST 181
  • Small and large community events
  • Development activities

Mentors receive extensive training in August before fall classes start, and attend various events with Century Scholars during Howdy Week. Century community service and scholarship participation requirements are waived during the semester(s) a student serves as a mentor.

Century Scholars Organization

The CCentury SScholars Oorganization (CSO) is a recognized student organization that provides current Century Scholars with leadership, networking, and community service opportunities. Through CSO, Century Scholars can fulfill programmatic and scholarship requirements, develop professionally, and network with other current Century Scholars and CSO alumni.
