OSS Learning Communities is a collaboration between two different scholarship-based campus learning communities offered at Texas A&M- Greater Texas Foundation Scholarship and Century Scholarship.
Learning communities (LCs) have been identified by the AAC&U as "high impact practices" that provide opportunities for students to actively participate in their education. Learning communities connect students with others of similar interests or backgrounds, enrich the learning process, and promote greater student success, leading to higher levels of student persistence and graduation.
LC Programs
Each OSS LC features small group interaction, common intellectual experiences, and one-on-one mentorship from peers and/or faculty. Students participating in OSS LC programs gain insight into the context for course material, develop a social network and support, are exposed to new experiences, and develop their critical thinking skills.
