Posse Mission
The Posse model works for both students and college campuses and is rooted in the belief that a small group of talented students—a Posse—carefully selected and trained, can serve as a catalyst for individual and community development. Posse’s primary aim is to train these leaders of tomorrow.
Goals
Expand Opportunity
To expand the pool from which top colleges and universities can recruit outstanding young leaders from various backgrounds.
Strengthen Campus Engagement
To help these institutions build more interactive campus environments so that they can be more welcoming for people from all backgrounds.
Promote Student Success
To ensure that Posse Scholars persist in their academic studies and graduate so they can take on leadership positions in the workforce.
Program Requirements
Scholars participate in a Posse-specific FYEX course, mentor 1-on-1, and live on campus for their first year. Attendance at Posse orientations, campus visits, and Posse Big Meetings in the fall, and events such as the Posse Plus Retreat and Big Meetings in the spring are required. Additional participation is required in years two through four.
Important Scholarship Note
If students return during their cohort (four years from their first semester), the Posse scholarship can be reinstated if they meet all program requirements. Please be sure to reach out to the Program Liaison.
