First-Gen High Impact Experience



The First-Gen High Impact Experience is a new program for first-gen students that provides opportunities for high-quality professional development and application through real-world experiences. This program is coordinated out of the Routh First-Gen Center in the Office for Student Success. 

For the 2020 pilot year, students who participated in the FOCUS, IGNITE, or ACREW academic success programs in Fall 2019, are eligible in their sopomore year to participate in a series of workshops that will prepare them for making the most our of a high-impact on-campus internship experience.  Students wishing to joing the pilot, should fill out the registration form.


Through the program students will be provided:

  • One on One meetings with a Career Coordinator and First-Gen Program Coordinator
  • Various opportunities for professional development through workshops
  • Hands on experience with an opportunity in your career field interest
  • and so much more!
 

To become a participant of the program, students must:

  • Be a first-gen student at Texas A&M
  • Have a 2.0 or above GPA
  • Be at a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
 

Application Requirements:

  • Completed application
  • Current resume

In collaboration with the Career Center and the Student Employment Office, the Routh First-Generation Center will offer workshops for all first-gen students in the fall. Students in the pilot are invited to apply for internships in the spring through Jobs for Aggies with a designation that they have participated in the program.
