Val has worked at Texas A&M University in a variety of capacities, including at Cushing Memorial Library, Dean of Faculties, and Academic Success Center. She has a wealth of experience helping transfer students transition to their new academic home. Val is passionate about mentorship, academia, and student success. She established the Transfer Student Program to ensure that new students feel prepared and welcomed from the start.  Val graduated as a transfer student from Texas A&M University.

Advice to students: Students should remember that they don't know what they don't know. Each organization has its own culture. What worked in one setting may not work in another. Continue to ask questions until you find an answer. Take charge of your education.
